Golden Island Cottages, a floating hotel, is built on stilts in the middle of dreamy Inle Lake. All the bungalows have scenic lake views. They are built of local bamboo and comfortably furnished to blend with the traditional atmosphere of the region whilefully equipped with modern facilities. Golden Island Cottages offers fine dining experience and delightful entertainment. The hotel also offers easy access by small engine-powered boats to ancient archeological sites, a variety of shops and colorful markets overflowing with handmade local products.
The first Golden Island Cottage hotel, Nampan Hotel, was established in 1996 followed in 1999 by Thale-U Hotel. Both hotels are the result of the collective efforts and contributions of the Pa-O people. The annual revenue is utilized for multi-development of communities in remote areas. Golden Island Cottages provides employment and education to local staff in an international setting. The hotel also promotes good relationships between different ethnic groups and countries, the sustainable use of natural resources and the conservation of the Inle Lake environment.
